One year! Maybe I should have a birthday party. With a smash cake or something.
This has been a real dream for me- in the early 2000s I spent a lot of time reading blogs and personal website and hanging out in mini gaming forums. In these days of instagram and facebook it all seems a little old-fashioned.
But at my core, and perhaps naively, I still believe in those early days of the information superhighway- individuals and small communities setting up their own ways of connecting, sharing information, and self-managing their systems. It’s that wikipedia dream of what the internet could be. In the era of platforms and enshitification that seems like a dream long past its prime.
Anywho, this blog has been great! I don’t know how many people really see this, but it has been a tremendous opportunity to share and document the cool work going on in our community and scene, and help push myself and make myself more accountable.
The very first post was the viking party! Viking Party!
Maybe you like Oldhammer stuff, perhaps our Siege of Bogenhafen Campaign would appeal: Bogenhafen Will Burn! The Final Assault
Maybe you like historicals, perhaps my Viking game: Ships on the Horizon! Viking Raid on Iona Abbey Battle Report
Maybe you like more weirdo and indie stuff, you might like our explorations into 1490 Doom: The Order of the Shrouded Sun
And maybe you enjoy Display Painting, been doing a lot of that including a recent trip to the new Pigment Show: Pigment 2026!
I’ve made some minor improvements and updates to the blog, and I’ll keep working on sprucing up the look. There is now a Newsletter! Going to test that out.
In the coming year, I look forward to the Tale of Four-ish Gamers Oldhammer Empire Army, a Great Northern War Campaign, beginning the Middle Earth Quest of the Ringbearer, exploring Trench Crusade, and getting ready to go to the 40th Anniversary of Golden Demon at Adepticon 2027!
Should be a really exciting year, if you’re reading hopefully you’ve found this blog fun, but ultimately just really excited to create this document for the community.

Congratulations on a year! Blogging is really hard work, much more so than the very low barrier of Instagram posts.
I am with you in enjoying the long form of blogs, and also recall the days in the mid 2000’s of poring over blog posts endlessly. Thanks for keeping the dream alive!
