Yarr Mateys!

So Gorkamorka was one of those classic 90s boxed GW games I didn’t actually play a lot of (and still haven’t). I think with the high school crew we tried it once or twice with a bunch of proxies (as we did with many other GW games of the time, like BFG and Inquisitor). But I always had a lot of sci-fi and fantasy ork(c)s, so always enjoyed the gorkamorka line, articles, and battle reports.

I still haven’t played a lot of Gorkamorka proper, but we’ve been exploring various light-weight narrative skirmish rulesets where you can add Gorkamorka on, and some of the crew has played a lot at this point!

So I had backed a kickstarter by the great and mighty goblinmaster himself, Kev Adams, for some space ork pirates! I was inspired to paint them up as a Gorkamorka-esque crew, and add in some electric rocket-skiffs! Because they surely would not use wheeled or tracked transports like some landlubber.

When we were vising Wargames Foundry this year, I even had the chance to show my painted captain to Kev Adams himself, which was a lovely treat!

And while they haven’t had a chance to play in a Gorkamorka campaign, they did show up to be utterly massacred at our huge 3rd Edition 40k Armageddon game earlier this year, which was awesome! Hopefully I’ll have a chance to run these orky pirates as a Gorkamorka crew sometime soon.
