And of course, no UnionCon would be complete without some Mordheim, everyone’s favorite long-dead GW game, brought to you by the great and powerful Broheim (https://broheim.net/).
For the uninitiated, this is a fantasy skirmish game set in the ruins of an Imperial city, where warbands scavenge for wyrdstone. It has has been reskinned and reused for the dark forests, spooky jungles, and arid deserts. At UnionCon, we had a few volunteers running demos and teaching games with 7 warbands pre-generated and ready to go!
The board was provided by the mighty Broheim himself, from our campaign set in a port city of Araby! The main board is foam on top of an MDF base for the water effect. The buildings are largely 3D FDM prints, and Broheim is an ace with a rattle can and a drybrush. Always gets amazing terrain results in an efficient time schedule!

We had seven pre-gen warbands (I brought 4), ranging from your standard Undead and Witch Hunters, to the more exotic Lizardmen and Horned Hunters

So I helped run some games, but I got to jump in for a three-player game vs Undead and Clan Pestilens Skaven (led by the one and only @noclearcoat).
The scenario was find the treasure, where you search the buildings looking for a big treasure chest.
Priest-Elect Quintana Melanogaster had searched the signs- the astro-calendar had revealed the ancient gold plates of wisdom had been found in a port city on the Arabian coast! While fearing the arid conditions but driven by devotion to the Old Ones, the Celestial Salamanders ventured forth from the Jungles of the south.

I set out, exploring the nearby buildings, but leaving one in my corner unexplored. In find the treasure, it’s typically been the case where no one rolls boxcars on the search rolls and the treasure is in the last building!
After that bit of cleverness, I immediately made the first major mistake that happens in Mordheim multiplayer scenarios- I split my forces and sent them running after both other players!

The Skinks’ javelins did little to slow the undead, who pushed in to charge us!

After much back and forth, the poor skinks were defeated!

The Skaven, meanwhile, stayed in a tight block of sling-wielding rats and pushed into my priest! A desparate scrum ensued, which also did not go my way!
I hung on a couple more turns, but ultimately bottled out. The skaven and undead then met in a big scrum in the middle, flails flying and vampires biting!

However, none of us anticipated the undead actually rolling boxcars on their search! They had found the treasure!

A ghoul dragged it back to the docks, taking the day for the Undead!
I always have fun helping people learn this game! I’ve been working on a new campaign to help run with some friends- more to come on that, including hopefully some cool rules!
